Water Street Tampa is a new, mixed-use neighborhood in downtown Tampa that will reconnect the existing Central Business District to surrounding neighborhoods and embrace the waterfront of Hillsborough Bay. As one of the largest developments in the nation, Water Street Tampa will introduce a dynamic new lifestyle for one of the country’s fastest growing cities.
The development project, led by Strategic Property Partners (SPP), represents a significant investment in the city’s future with the addition of nine million square feet of new commercial, residential, hospitality, entertainment, cultural, retail and educational spaces, connected by pedestrian-oriented streets to community anchors such as Tampa Convention Center, Amalie Arena, Tampa Bay History Center, Florida Aquarium and Tampa Riverwalk.
The Water Street Tampa neighborhood builds on Tampa’s transformational growth with the first new downtown office towers in nearly 25 years, the first for-sale condominiums in almost a decade, Tampa’s first JW Marriott, and the Tampa EDITION, the city’s first five-star hotel. Approximately 3,500 new rental and for-sale residences are planned to nearly double the number of housing units available within downtown Tampa.
An active pedestrian experience is at the heart of the design. Water Street Tampa will add 1 million square feet of new retail, cultural, educational, and entertainment space at the street-level, as well as 12.9 acres of new and enhanced park and public spaces. To make the Water Street Tampa neighborhood truly walkable, streets have been specially designed to be cool even in summer, shaded by a canopy of trees and accented by water features.
Digital integration and engagement have been part of the vision of Water Street Tampa since day one. App-based parking on demand, neighborhood-wide WiFi, digital services, including dynamic wayfinding, intelligent buildings, a digital concierge for fans, hotel guests, residents, and visitors will enhance the experience throughout Water Street Tampa and downtown.
Water Street Tampa is a vibrant vision for the future of our city and for the 23,000+ people who live, work, study, and visit the neighborhood each day. Water Street Tampa embraces the city’s character and way of life, seizing the opportunity to create a stronger heart and bolder narrative for this unique community.
