Water Street Tampa Unveils Design Teams

August 22, 2017 – On the heels of announcing Water Street Tampa, a 50-plus-acre, development in downtown Tampa, Strategic Property Partners is pleased to unveil the all-star design team selected to work with us on this transformative new neighborhood.

A newly released conceptual illustration video brings this amazing destination to life over the next decade – from the new infrastructure, to 13 acres of newly imagined public green spaces, and the creation of multiple new city blocks.

To transform Water Street Tampa, several award-winning architectural and design firms have been tasked with designing new and distinct buildings including:

Architects

•Cook Fox Architects – Two buildings; office and residential over retail

•Morris Adjmi Architects – Three buildings; 157-key 5-star hotel, luxury condominiums, apartments and retail

•Olson Kundig – One building; office over retail

•Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) – Two buildings; condominiums and apartments over retail

•Gensler – Two buildings; office over retail

•Alfonso Architects – Redevelopment vision for Channelside; residential and waterfront retail, and a new public park on the Riverwalk

•Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates (NBWW) – One building; 500-key 4-star hotel

•Pickard Chilton – Three buildings; office and residential over retail

•Baker Barrios – One building; central cooling facility and infrastructure

Interiors

•Roman & Williams – Interior design for the new five-star hotel and associated condominiums, in a building designed by Morris Adjmi

•Cecconi Simone –Interiors for the condominium and apartment residences in the buildings designed by KPF

•Champalimaud –Interiors for the new four-star hotel designed by NBWW

In curating the design teams for the initial phase of Water Street Tampa, the developer, Strategic Property Partners, has worked to assemble a broad group of architectural talent that has deep-routed passion and experience working to create interesting buildings and places around existing local context. These teams, which include a collection of Florida-based and global firms, are working collaborative to create a fresh perspective for downtown Tampa. CookFox Architects, Morris Adjmi Architects, Olson Kundig, Kohn Pederson Fox Associates, and Pickard Chilton have never designed a building in Tampa, but all have had globally-recognized international exposure and have done work in the region.

These firms have been working alongside their local counterparts at Gensler, Alfonso Architects, NBWW, and Baker Barrios to create bold buildings that are both aesthetically appealing and locally grounded, while giving a strong sense of identity and character to Water Street Tampa.

In addition, HOK is designing the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine and Health Heart Institute. Construction on the new school begins this fall.

Downtown Tampa’s revitalization with Water Street Tampa will include of over 9 million square feet and total over $3 billion of private investment. Currently an area largely consisting of high-speed roadways and surface parking lots, Water Street Tampa will be a new downtown neighborhood that seamlessly blends together the best places to live, work, and play all along the burgeoning Tampa waterfront. From bike paths and lush green spaces, to specially-curated shopping and culinary experiences that will line the streets, to music and entertainment venues, to museums and educational institutions and more, Water Street Tampa will bring distinctive community and pedestrian-oriented design to Downtown Tampa.
